- The ROFGO Junior driver starts his second full season in GT racing at the Dubai Autodrome
- Dries Vanthoor, Kelvin van der Linde, Louis Machiels and Frank Bird will join Benjamin in the Audi R8 LMS
Benjamin Goethe will start the 2021 season in Dubai, competing in the 16th running of the iconic 24H race with 2016 Dubai 24H-winners Team WRT.
The Dubai 24 Hours – which is one of the highlights of the motorsport calendar- will be Benjamin’s third 24H race. The 17-year old ROFGO Junior - starting his second full season in GTs - will once again be the youngest driver on the grid of 54 cars, sharing the Team WRT Audi R8 LMS with Dries Vanthoor, Kelvin van der Linde, Louis Machiels and Frank Bird.
‘’I am really excited to race in Dubai. Even though I’ve never raced there before, the team has great experience, having won this race in 2016. I am looking forward to working alongside pro drivers like Kelvin and Dries and learn as much from them as I can. We go there to win, and I’ll give my all to achieve it.”
Benjamin made his GT debut in 2019 and got presented with the SRO Merit Award at the end of the season at only 16. In 2020, the ROFGO Junior signed with WRT and had a successful first season together. The season was thwarted by the pandemic, but, Benji has massively improved as a driver and now must take another step in performance. One of the highlights of his season was his brilliant performance at his Spa 24H debut.
The 17-year old Dane – who is in his final year at Millfield School is also focusing on his studies. Even though the school year has been made more challenging by the pandemic, he is trying to find the balance between his academics and racing.
‘’I am packing my schoolbooks beside my race gear for the Dubai trip, as I have to keep up with my school work in my final year. Racing is my passion, but I think it’s important to carry on with my education and I am grateful to receive the full support from Millfield to be able to do both with maximum effort.”
The Hankook 24H of Dubai race will take place on 13-16 January at the Dubai Autodrome behind closed doors. All sessions will be livestreamed on www.benjamingoethe.com.
